What is Trauma?
Trauma is the Greek word for "wound".
There is a natural intelligence and inclination for a wound to heal, physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically and within a relationship.
There is a call to heal. When the call goes unanswered, there is dis-ease because, in Bessel van der Kolk’s words, The Body Keeps Score. Trauma is the nervous system response which becomes a program that keeps running in the background (our subconsciousness) until it is addressed.
Gabor Maté says, “Trauma is not what happens to you, it’s what happens inside of you.”
In my observation, trauma is synonymous with fear and with fear, comes separation. Essentially trauma
A traumatic event installs the program that separates us from ourSelves and our connection to our True Nature.
Trauma creates a fracture that separates us from our birthright to be intimately connected to the Truth of who we are, the power of our choice, an open heart and our freedom to be who we are.
To heal is to restore the connection to our True Nature. With the stages of trauma recovery, starting with Safety, we can reconnect to ourSelf and heal our trauma
